Omya Industries

The Vermont branch of Omya Industries was the company’s first North American plant. In 1976 the plant was purchased from the Proctor family and shortly after started producing ground calcium carbonate. The process begins when marble is quarried and then is ground, milled and purified to produce a finely ground powder. The Vermont plant produces slurry and dry calcium carbonate that is then used in paper products, paint and plastic.

The Omya plant in Vermont is one of the companies most modern plants and has gone though many expansions over the years.
